Director of Business Development

Monica Walters, RN

Monica Walters, RN, is the director of business development for Select Specialty Hospital – Oakland. In this role since 2022, she oversees strategic business development and the admissions department.

Monica came to Select Medical in 2015 as a clinical liaison to Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. There she used her clinical knowledge to review and place hundreds of critical and complex patients per year to Michigan and out-of-state Select Specialty Hospitals. She then moved into a payor relations specialist position before transitioning into her role as director of business development. Prior to joining Select Specialty, Monica worked as an intensive care nurse at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital and Harper Hospital. She has worked in medical, surgical, neuro and cardiovascular ICUs.

Monica has several years of EMS experience, which provided her familiarity of all Metro Detroit hospitals, and is certified in several field specialties such as hazmat ops and FEMA operation certifications.
