Dr. Jose Arrascue
Dr. Jose Arrascue is the medical director for Select Specialty Hospital - Palm Beach. In this role since 2008, he oversees weekly team rounds and helps to formulate and implement policies, procedures and clinical protocols.
Dr. Arrascue has actively participated in hospital board committees and has developed an expertise and passion for quality improvement, which he has brought to the Palm Beach County Medical Society (PBCMS). As past president and Board member of PBCMS and PBCMS Services, Dr. Arrascue initiated and launched the Future of Medicine Initiative in 2007, which he continues to chair. Partnering with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, he has spearheaded the Triple Aim movement to improve the quality and value of health care in Palm Beach County. Presently he is leading a training program for Community Health Care workers, to improve outcomes and cost in patients with chronic disease. Dr Arrascue has been the chair of the Specialist committee and board member of the Palm Beach Accountable Care Organization (PBACO) one of the most successful Physician owned ACO in the country.
Dr. Arrascue has been active in organized medicine and has served his fellow physicians through leadership roles in the American Medical Association, the Florida Medical Association, the Palm Beach County Medical Society and the Florida Society of Nephrology. He has received the 2005 President’s Award for “Physician Leadership” from PBCMS, the “Physician Local/National Heroes in Medicine Award” from PBCMS Services, and the “Attending of the Year” Award from the Palm Beach Consortium for Graduate Medical Education. He is also recognized as one of Florida’s “Super Doctors.”
A native of Peru, Dr. Arrascue received his medical degree from Cayetano Heredia University in Lima, Peru. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan where he served as chief medical resident. He completed his nephrology fellowship at Stanford University Medical Center in Stanford, California. He has published peer-reviewed articles in Kidney International and The American Journal of Physiology, among others. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American Board of Nephrology and holds a certificate of additional qualification in critical care medicine. He has also been recognized as a certified physician executive from the American College of Physician Executives.
