John Duemmel

John Duemmel is the chief executive officer for Select Specialty Hospital - Erie. In this role, John is responsible for the clinical, financial and strategic operations of the hospital.

Before taking on this role, John worked as an interim chief executive officer within Select Medical for two years. Prior to Select, John was employed as chief executive officer for another LTACH provider in Youngstown, Ohio for four years. John’s background, prior to working in the LTACH industry, included working for a multi-state retina medical practice in the Northeastern United States as the chief executive officer for six years. John also assisted several medical practices across the nation as a regional medical practice consultant. His 30 plus year career in healthcare has provided John with exposure to multi-faceted operations including financial, clinical, business development, strategic planning, facility operations and human resources.

John attained his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Management and Accounting. John continued his education with the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health and Katz School of Business, obtaining his master’s in health administration and Master of Business Administration.
