About Us

About our hospital

Select Specialty Hospital – Spectrum Health is a 36-bed critical illness recovery hospital located on the fifth floor of Spectrum Health Blodgett Hospital. We specialize in helping critically ill patients breathe, speak, eat, walk and think as independently as possible.

Dining options

Market Avenue Cafeteria
First floor, west of the main lobby
Monday to Friday: 6:30 a.m. - 7:15 p.m.
Weekends and holidays: 6:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.

Garden View Cafe
First floor, off the main lobby
Monday to Friday: 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.

The 2nd Serving
Second floor, next to the surgical waiting room
Monday to Friday: 6:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. and 1-3:30 a.m.
Weekends: 1 - 3:30 a.m.

Guest Meal Trays
Call ext. 12553 from the patient's room.
Order breakfast by 7 a.m.; lunch by 11 a.m.; dinner by 4 p.m.
Visa, MasterCard and Discover accepted.

Our Information Desk staff can recommend nearby restaurants.

Restaurant information is also available at the Navigator Kiosk (Floor 1), or from our Spectrum Health Concierge Services.

Additional amenities

Internet access and cell phones We offer free wireless internet access. Mobile devices and laptops may be used anywhere, except in posted restricted areas. If you need help with access, call our Technical Support team at 616.391.4000.

Language services
Patients and families in need of assistance with understanding or reading English have free access to Spectrum Health language services. For interpretation or translation services, call 616.391.2175.

Hearing support
A telecommunications device for the deaf (TDD) is available for patients and visitors who are deaf or hearing impaired. Ask the nurse to make arrangements for a device.

Wheelchair assistance
Security employees are available 24 hours a day to help visitors, patients and guests with wheelchair assistance. We can also escort you to your vehicle.

Chapel
If you would like to reflect, pray, meditate or simply sit in peaceful quiet, visit our multi-faith chapel. Located on the first floor near the lobby, the chapel is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.


Gift shop
Located within the main lobby, Blodgett Hospital Window Shop offers unique gift ideas from infant clothing to cards and flowers.

Hours:
Monday to Friday: 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Saturday: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Sunday: 12:30 - 4 p.m.
(The gift shop is closed in July and August)

Flowers, balloons and gifts are delivered to rooms daily by volunteers.

Pricing transparency

Effective January 1, 2021, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services is requiring hospitals to make standard charges public. CMS issued a final rule on November 15, 2019 that provides the details related to the required information. Hospitals are expected to update this information at least annually or more often as appropriate, to reflect current charges. Note the standard charges provided may not accurately reflect what any given individual is likely to pay for a particular service, as this will be dependent upon your insurance coverage and the terms of the insurance plan. You should check with your insurance coverage to determine if you will have, any out of pocket costs. Note, some charges may be subject to change during the year without notice and the timing of updates may affect the posted charges on this site.

Note that other healthcare providers who may separately bill the patient may provide some services in our hospital and that provider may or may not participate with the same health insurers or health maintenance organizations as our hospital.
