Dr. Walid Kassir, Medical Director

Dr. Walid Kassir serves as medical director of Select Specialty Hospital – Laurel Highlands. In this role, he helps to formulate policies, procedures and clinical protocols for patient treatment, assists with the quality assurance program and has general oversight of the medical staff.

Dr. Kassir is board-certified in nephrology and internal medicine and instructs family practice residents at the Latrobe Area Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program.

He conducted undergraduate studies and earned a medical degree at American University of Beirut. Dr. Kassir completed an internal medicine residency at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York and a nephrology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh.

He is a member of the American Medical Association, Latrobe Academy of Medicine and the Lebanese Order of Physicians.  Dr. Kassir has held several medical staff leadership positions including president-elect and president of the Excela Health Medical Staff and serves as a member-at-large on the Excela Health Board of Trustees.
