Dr. Robert Albertini, Medical Director

Dr. Robert Albertini is the medical director of Select Specialty Hospital – Danville. In this role, he oversees quality, reviews and approves medical staff appointments, conducts monthly medical executive meetings and serves on the hospital board of directors.

Dr. Albertini is board certified in internal, pulmonary and critical care medicine.

Previously, he held a variety of leadership roles within the Geisinger Health System including: Geisinger and Penn State Geisinger Health System vice president for medical performance and quality improvement, Geisinger Medical Center acting director for the department of physical medicine & rehabilitation, GMC senior vice president of medical affairs, chairman of medicine and director of thoracic medicine.

Research and teaching roles include professor of medicine at Penn State Medical School and Jefferson Medical School and director of the pulmonary fellowship and internal medicine and the combined medicine/pediatrics residency programs. He has authored and spoken on pulmonary disease related topics, medical management, utilization and quality improvement.

Dr. Albertini received a bachelor’s degree from Notre Dame University and medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. Internal medicine residency training was conducted at Geisinger Medical Center and a pulmonary and critical care fellowship at the University of California, San Diego.

He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Chest Physicians.
