Dr. Raymond Sullivan Jr., Medical Director
Dr. Raymond Sullivan Jr. is the medical director of Select Specialty Hospital – Greensboro. In this role, he oversees clinical policies and procedures and serves as physician quality director, chair of pharmacy and therapeutics and laboratory director.
Dr. Sullivan has been Greensboro’s medical director since 2009. Previously, he spent more than 20 years as a partner in a general internal medicine practice and more than a decade in individual private practice. Simultaneously, Dr. Sullivan served 30 years as a senior aviation medical examiner for the Federal Aviation Administration.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and pre-med at Wake Forest University and medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine.
As a senior medical student, he became an ensign in the U.S. Navy. Dr. Sullivan was awarded a medical clerkship at Bethesda Naval Hospital and conducted internship and junior residency training at the Medical College of Virginia and Veterans Administration Medical Center. Afterward, he was assigned to NAS Saufley Field in Pensacola, Florida as a general medical officer. Following a two-year tour, he achieved the rank of lieutenant commander. Dr. Sullivan’s third year of an internal medicine residency was taken at the University of North Carolina Moses Cone Hospital’s internal medicine division.
