Visitor parking is free and located in front of the hospital main entrance.

From the visitor lot, go directly to the main entrance. Stop at the reception desk to check in and receive a visitor's badge.

Our preference is that visitations occur between 8 a.m. - 8 p.m., which allows patients to maximize rest. However, the hospital has open visiting hours available for your convenience. It is not necessary to call ahead.

About our hospital

Select Specialty Hospital – Kansas City is a 40-bed, critical illness recovery hospital located on the ground of the Providence Medical Center campus, just after the South parking lot. We specialize in helping critically ill patients breathe, speak, eat, walk and think as independently as possible. 

Dining options

Our vending/dining area has several machines offering drinks, coffee, snacks, sandwiches and meals. Microwaves are available.

Providence Medical Center (located across the parking lot) offers full, daily cafeteria service with a variety of hot and cold meals. It is located on the main hospital’s lower level.
 
Hours
Breakfast: 6 - 10 a.m.

Lunch: 10:45 a.m. - 2 p.m.
(Grill, hot entrees, soup/salad bar)

Dinner: 2 - 6 p.m.
(Soup/salad bar, grab-and-go sandwiches)

The cafeteria is closed from 10:30 - 10:45 a.m. to prepare for lunch.

Vending machines are available in the hospital cafeteria and on the sixth floor 24 hours a day.

Local hotels and restaurants

There are a number of hotels and motels near our hospital (some of which may offer special rates to our guests), along with a wide range of restaurants and dining options.

Pricing transparency

Effective January 1, 2021, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services is requiring hospitals to make standard charges public. CMS issued a final rule on November 15, 2019 that provides the details related to the required information. Hospitals are expected to update this information at least annually or more often as appropriate, to reflect current charges. Note the standard charges provided may not accurately reflect what any given individual is likely to pay for a particular service, as this will be dependent upon your insurance coverage and the terms of the insurance plan. You should check with your insurance coverage to determine if you will have, any out of pocket costs. Note, some charges may be subject to change during the year without notice and the timing of updates may affect the posted charges on this site.

Note that other healthcare providers who may separately bill the patient may provide some services in our hospital and that provider may or may not participate with the same health insurers or health maintenance organizations as our hospital.
