Dr. Juan Aranda, Medical Director

Dr. Juan Aranda is the medical director for Select Specialty Hospital – Gainesville. In this role since 2018, he oversees weekly team rounds and helps to formulate and implement policies, procedures and clinical protocols.

Additionally, Dr. Aranda is professor of medicine and chief of the division of cardiovascular medicine at the University of Florida, Gainesville and vice-chair of clinical affairs in its department of medicine.

Major research interests include heart failure and cardiac transplantation. He has been published in several publications, including the Journal of Cardiac Surgery and American Society for Artificial Internal Organs Journal.

Dr. Aranda received medical and bachelor’s degrees in chemistry from the University of Puerto Rico. He earned a fellowship in cardiology at the University of South Florida and completed an internship in internal medicine at the Veterans Administration Hospital in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
