Dr. Sumeet Shetty, Medical Director

Dr. Sumeet Shetty is the medical director of Select Specialty Hospital – Fort Myers. In this role, he assists in formulating and implementing policies and procedures for the hospital’s patients and serves as its medical representative in the community.

In addition, Dr. Shetty is CEO of Axel Health, a hospital consulting company.

Previously, he held several roles within the Lee Memorial Health System, including system medical director and head of its inpatient specialists. Earlier, he spent nearly a decade working for Cogent Healthcare as its program medical director.

Dr. Shetty graduated from Kasturba Medical College and earned a medical degree from New York Methodist Hospital Center for Allied Health Education. His internal medicine residency and fellowship in hospital medicine were completed at New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. Additionally, he obtained a Master of Business Administration from Florida Gulf Coast University.
