Dr. Venktesh Ramnath, Medical Director
Dr. Venktesh Ramnath is the medical director of Select Specialty Hospital – San Diego. In this role, he oversees weekly team rounds and helps to formulate and implement policies, procedures and clinical protocols.
Board-certified in pulmonary disease, critical care and internal medicine, Dr. Ramnath is also clinical associate professor and medical director of critical care and telemedicine outreach at UC San Diego Health.
Major research interests include digital health/telemedicine, mixed reality technology in critical care and bioethics. His recent publications include “An in-person and telemedicine ‘hybrid’ system to improve cross-border critical care in COVID-19” (Annals of Global Health 2020), and Remote Proactive Physiologic Monitoring in the ICU (book chapter in Telemedicine in the ICU, Springer 2019).
Dr. Ramnath conducted undergraduate studies at Harvard University and received a medical degree from Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. He earned a fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and completed a residency in internal medicine.
He is a member of American Thoracic Society, American College of Chest Physicians and Society of Critical Care Medicine.
