Andrew Howard, Chief Executive Officer

Andrew D. Howard, MSHA, FACHE, has been the chief executive officer of Select Specialty Hospital – Birmingham since 2019.  In this role, he is responsible for the hospital’s day-to-day operations and overall strategic direction.

During his tenure, Andrew has overseen improved operations, patient satisfaction, and, most importantly, care quality measures.

Previously, he led Select Specialty Hospital – Knoxville for two years. Before joining Select, Andrew served as chief operating officer of the Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center, a 200-bed acute care hospital.

Andrew has a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa and a Master of Science in health administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.  Additionally, he is board-certified in health care management as a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
