Our Admissions Coordinator will process your referrals to Select Specialty Hospital - Pensacola quickly and efficiently. An on-site evaluation of the patient will be completed by a Clinical Liaison within hours of the referral. The Clinical Liaison is your personal contact to Select Specialty Hospital. They will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the services we provide. Once an admission decision has been determined, the patient can often transfer the same day.

Success Story 1

I had been in a motorcycle accident and suffered a head injury and punctured lung just two months after high school graduation. I was admitted to Select Specialty Hospital a few weeks later. I had been in a regular hospital for weeks but I couldn't sit or stand, could barely talk, and needed feedings through my nose and was on oxygen.

I was so thankful to be here because the visiting hours allowed my parents to be with me during the day and I could have a window. I literally hadn't seen the light of day since the accident. The therapists and nurses were able to spend lots more time working with me. They encouraged me when I was down, calmed me when I was afraid, and helped me understand what was going on and what to expect. It was tough, but I am proud of where I am now and know I couldn't have made it this far without Select.

I am now home with my Dad and have relearned to drive. I plan to start college in the fall. I want to be a therapist or therapy assistant and help other young people with injuries like mine.

Medical Director

Our medical staff is comprised of local physicians and encompasses most specialties. Our medical leadership consists of three pulmonologists and one pathologist, all from the three local regional medical centers.

Dr. John M. Bray serves as Medical Director, and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Disease and is a Diplomate for Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Bray is in private practice with the Pensacola Lung Group and is a staff physician at Sacred Heart Hospital.

Dr. John Fletcher Wade, III serves as the Director of the Pulmonary program. He is Diplomate, National Board of Medical Examiners, Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine and American Board of Sleep Medicine. He practices at the office of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Disorders Medicine, P.A. and is on staff at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola.

Dr. Mark Peter Scott serves as the Director of Quality and Utilization Review. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Scott practices at the Medical Center Clinic, P.A. and is on staff at West Florida Hospital.

Dr. Jay R. Erickson serves as the Infectious Disease Director and is a Diplomate for the American Board of Internal Medicine and a Diplomate, A.B.I.M., Infectious Disease. Dr. Erickson practices at The Infectious Disease Group, P.A. and is on staff at Sacred Heart Hospital, Baptist Hospital and Santa Rosa Medical Center.
