Occasionally, patients in the hospital have a need for a longer acute care stay due to their illness, multiple injuries, trauma, or medical complications. The unique medical needs of these types of patients require more intensive, focused hospital care for optimal recovery. Select Specialty Hospitals are designed specifically to meet the needs of these types of extended acute care patients.

Select Specialty Hospital - Gainesville, opened January 7, 2008. The hospital is an impressive 50,000 square foot, 44 bed, all private- room facility. It is inclusive of a 6-bed ICU, as well as 4 rooms with negative pressure capabilities and a surgical suite. The rooms, and units offer state-of-the art-design features and equipment to provide an environment that is conducive of healing. A collaboration between the academic and community based physicians provides for the high standard of quality care that patients and families are accustomed to receiving in this area.

Each patient is also assigned a case manager who will guide their case from admission through discharge. The case manager is available to answer questions, assist with insurance and to plan a safe, timely and appropriate discharge. Select Specialty Hospitals are Medicare certified and accredited by the Joint Commission. We participate with most major health insurers.

Our Admissions Coordinator will process your referrals to Select Specialty Hospital - Gainesville quickly and efficiently. An on-site evaluation of the patient will be completed by a Clinical Liaison within hours of the referral. The Clinical Liaison is your personal contact to Select Specialty Hospital.
