Select Specialty Hospital - Flint combines the specialized expertise of a large hospital with the personalized attention of a smaller setting.

Occasionally, patients in the hospital have a need for a longer acute care stay due to their illness, multiple injuries, trauma, or medical complications. The unique medical needs of these types of patients require more intensive, focused hospital care for optimal recovery. Select Specialty Hospitals are designed specifically to meet the needs of these types of extended acute care patients.

At Select Specialty Hospital - Flint, our low patient-to-nurse ratio allows us to provide more focused care to our patients. Our WOCNs (Wound/Ostomy Certified Nurses) provide specialized treatments to those patients requiring wound care services. Our Rehab staff consists of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy; they work alongside our nursing staff to assist patients in regaining their functional independence. In addition, our highly experienced Respiratory Therapy staff are on duty 24 hours a day, and work closely with our Nurses, Physicians and Pulmonologists to ensure the highest quality outcomes for our respiratory patients.

Each patient is also assigned a case manager who will guide their case from admission through discharge. The case manager is available to answer questions, assist with insurance and to plan a safe, timely and appropriate discharge. Select Specialty Hospitals are Medicare certified and accredited by the Joint Commission. We participate with most major health insurers.

We are located on the 5th Central floor(s) of McLaren Regional Medical Center, which allows us seamless transition of patients.

Our Admissions Coordinator will process your referrals to Select Specialty Hospital - Flint quickly and efficiently. An on-site evaluation of the patient will be completed by a Clinical Liaison within hours of the referral. The Clinical Liaison is your personal contact to Select Specialty Hospital. They will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the services we provide. Once an admission decision has been determined, the patient can often transfer the same day.

Medical Director

Dr. Jitendra P. Katneni, has been the Medical Director for Select Specialty Hospital - Flint since it opened in 1997.

He holds Board Certifications in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics. He has also been in private practice for over 20 years. Dr. Katneni had also served as the Chairman of the Department of Medicine for Hurley Medical Center from 2000 to 2006 and currently serves as their Chief of Staff.
