Our Admissions Coordinator will process your referrals to Select Specialty Hospital - Flint quickly and efficiently. An on-site evaluation of the patient will be completed by a Clinical Liaison within hours of the referral. The Clinical Liaison is your personal contact to Select Specialty Hospital. They will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the services we provide. Once an admission decision has been determined, the patient can often transfer the same day.

Ronald Watson is a 66 year-old male that was admitted to an area hospital with Pneumonia. He was in the Intensive Care Unit on a ventilator. Tracheostomy and feeding tubes were placed.

During his stay at Select he was weaned off of the ventilator and all supplemental oxygen. His tracheostomy and feeding tubes were removed. He was up walking in halls with assistance and tolerating a diet. He was able to be discharged home with his family and home care.

Phillip Altheide is a 64 year-old male who was an un-restrained driver that hit a tree with his car. He had numerous wounds including: fractured ribs, lumbar vertebrae fracture, both lungs collapsed, and a fractured left arm. He developed ventilator dependent Respiratory Failure. Tracheostomy and feeding tubes were placed. He was very anxious and confused upon admission.

During his stay he weaned off of the ventilator and all supplemental oxygen. His tracheostomy and feeding tubes were removed. He was walking in halls and up and down stairs with assistance and tolerating a diet when he was discharged home with his family.

Medical Director

Dr. Jitendra P. Katneni, has been the Medical Director for Select Specialty Hospital - Flint since it opened in 1997.

He holds Board Certifications in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics. He has also been in private practice for over 20 years. Dr. Katneni had also served as the Chairman of the Department of Medicine for Hurley Medical Center from 2000 to 2006 and currently serves as their Chief of Staff.
