Select Specialty Hospital - Denver, Inc. (Denver Campus) combines the specialized expertise of a large hospital with the personalized attention of a smaller setting.

Occasionally, patients in the hospital have a need for a longer acute care stay due to their illness, multiple injuries, trauma, or medical complications. The unique medical needs of these types of patients require more intensive, focused hospital care for optimal recovery. Select Specialty Hospitals are designed specifically to meet the needs of these types of extended acute care patients.

Select Specialty Hospital - Denver, Inc. (Denver Campus), provides continued acute care for catastrophically ill/injured patients through an interdisciplinary treatment approach. The average length of stay is 25 to 30 days. The most common conditions treated are, complex medical including, renal failure, infectious disease, neurological illnesses/injury, cardiovascular disease, and multi-system failures; complex respiratory diagnosis, requiring ventilator management and weaning, and recalcitrant wounds.

Select Specialty Hospital - Denver, Inc., operates 2 Long-Term Acute Care Hospitals. Each location is a separate campus, located as a hospital-within-a-hospital (we are the only LTACHs in Denver that are not free standing). We are located inside of Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center, near downtown Denver.

Select Specialty Hospital - Denver Inc. (Denver Campus) utilizes an interdisciplinary team model to provide an intensive, focused approach from pre-admission through discharge. At Select Specialty Hospital - Denver Inc. (Denver Campus), the patient and family are considered integral team members and their participation is given priority in the team process.

Each patient is also assigned a case manager who will guide their case from admission through discharge. The case manager is available to answer questions, assist with insurance and to plan a safe, timely and appropriate discharge. Select Specialty Hospitals are Medicare certified and accredited by the Joint Commission. We participate with most major health insurers.

We are located on the 5B floor(s) of Presbyterian / St. Luke's Medical Center, which allows us seamless transition of patients.

Our Admissions Coordinator will process your referrals to Select Specialty Hospital - Denver, Inc. (Denver Campus) quickly and efficiently. An on-site evaluation of the patient will be completed by a Clinical Liaison within hours of the referral. The Clinical Liaison is your personal contact to Select Specialty Hospital. They will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the services we provide. Once an admission decision has been determined, the patient can often transfer the same day.

Medical Director

Dr. Michael J. McMillan is the Medical Director of Select Specialty Hospital - Denver, Inc. (Denver Campus). He has been practicing medicine for over 22 years.

Dr. McMillan is the former Medical Director of Hospice of Peace and Centura Home Care and Hospice. He is currently active staff of Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center and was the President and Chief of Staff of Centura Porter Adventist Hospital.

Dr. McMillan did his residency of family practice and internship at Mercy Medical Center in Denver. He also attended Medical School in Granada, West Indies and The University of Colorado.

Dr. McMillan has been with Select Specialty Hospital - Denver, Inc. (Denver Campus), since 2005. He is most recognized for his compassionate bedside manner and dedication to the quality of care at Select Specialty Hospital - Denver, Inc. (Denver Campus).
