Select Specialty Hospital - Danville combines the specialized expertise of a large hospital with the personalized attention of a smaller setting.

Occasionally, patients in the hospital have a need for a longer acute care stay due to their illness, multiple injuries, trauma, or medical complications. The unique medical needs of these types of patients require more intensive, focused hospital care for optimal recovery. Select Specialty Hospitals are designed specifically to meet the needs of these types of extended acute care patients.

Select Specialty Hospital - Danville specializes in ventilator weaning, and all types of high-tech respiratory care. We are pioneering the use of the "Cadence" self breathing system, which has been highly successful in assisting with patients struggling to wean from the ventilator via a trach. However, unlike most Long Term Acute Care Hospitals, Select Specialty Hospital - Danville does not require our patients to have a tracheostomy or PEG tube before transfer.

Select Specialty Hospital - Danville also has a highly trained on-site Wound and Ostomy Care Nurse designated solely for those patients with challenging wound care needs. We have our own PICC certified nurses, allowing us more timely and efficient line placement. We provide in-room dialysis on a 3x/week basis, and we have a dedicated rehab team to assist patients with all their physical, occupation, and speech therapy needs.

Each patient is also assigned a case manager who will guide their case from admission through discharge. The case manager is available to answer questions, assist with insurance and to plan a safe, timely and appropriate discharge. Select Specialty Hospitals are Medicare certified and accredited by the Joint Commission. We participate with most major health insurers.

We are located on the Bush Pavilion, 3rd floor(s) of Geisinger Medical Center, which allows us seamless transition of patients.

Our Admissions Coordinator will process your referrals to Select Specialty Hospital - Danville quickly and efficiently. An on-site evaluation of the patient will be completed by a Clinical Liaison within hours of the referral. The Clinical Liaison is your personal contact to Select Specialty Hospital. They will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the services we provide. Once an admission decision has been determined, the patient can often transfer the same day.
